Chase County Transportation -1910 -1973
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Trayer went from Nemaha
County, Nebraska to Oklahoma where they homesteaded, and while there they made their home in a
dug-out. They later came to Chase County, Kansas,
where they made their home in Cottonwood Falls.
Mr. Trayer brought his 1911 Buick truck,
which was the first truck in Cottonwood Falls. He
delivered merchandise to the stores. His truck
was equiped with movable seats, which enabled
him to use his truck for transportation purposes.
Mr. Trayer often hauled the Cottonwood Falls band
and other persons to the Chautauqua and other destinations.
Dr. H.E. Lancaster and his son Donald had a the
1910 Cole car with tool chest on the
running board.
I.0. Talkington's had a 1913 right hand drive Over-
land, with presto lights, and fold down windshield,
His dog, Spot liked the hood.
Frank S. Frey rode his Indian motorcycle and his
mother, Mrs. Louis J. Frey used their 1913 Hupmobile.
Everett Stowers had a 1914 Model-T Ford.
And then in comparison was the Chevrolet's new 1973 Vega.
