Graham, Tom FINDS OLD HOME TOWN NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE When County Treasurer Tom Graham visited the old town of Oak Grove in
Missouri a few days ago, where he lived as a boy he found even the name of
the town changed and could not find a single person living there he had
known as a boy but he did find plenty of their children and grandchildren.
Mr. Graham left Oak Grove fifty-six years ago. Since that time the town has
changed its name to Oakton. He said the creeks and hills and buildings all
seemed changed. The little creek he fished in as a boy he said now has
great trees lining it banks when a half century ago there was little timber
along its course. He could not recognize any of the building of the old
town either, and it is likely that few if any are now standing which were
there at that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham went to Columbus, Kansas, where they visited his
sister, Mrs. Ash Soper, and family, then slipped over to Lamar, Mo., and
the old home town just to see what it looked like.
