Livery, Joseph & Jane

Joseph Livery was born in 1845 and died in 19 Jun 1899. He was a civil war vet in the lst Ohio LA. A marriage certificate is at the Chase County Historical society which shows that Joseph Livery and Jennie O'Neil were married in 1888. He and Jane are both buried in the Strong City Cemetery next to one another.

There are no dates on the headstone for Jane but on Joseph's probate record it shows Mrs Jane Livery, wife age 43 on 18 Jul 1900 when the probate was filed. This is the same date as the filing and so it means she was 43 years old at his death. James O'Reilly was the administrator of his probate.

On the 1895 Kansas state census for Chase County It shows Jenney Livery age 37 born in Ireland living in Strong City and Joseph age 50 born in France living in Strong City.

On the 1900 Census Jennie Livery age 43 born in 1857 is living with Barnard "Barney" as his housekeeper. Remember, Joseph died in June 1899 and she was a housekeeper for Barney Carlin born Ireland, single. Barney was a Corp in Co A 66 Illinois, inf. He died Nov 23, 1900 at the age of 67. Jane Livery was the administrator of his probate.

On the 1920 census Jane "Jennie" is living with James O'Reilly age 68 who came to the United States from Ireland in 1884 and became naturalized in 1888. His wife Rose was Jennie or Jane's sister. Rose was 68 years old and Jane was 63 years, widowed and immigrated to the US from Ireland in 1886. Her father was born in Ireland and so was her mother. She is listed living with Rose and James O'Reilly and Henry Charles the son of Rose and James age 30 born in Kansas was residing all in Strong City.

Henry Charles O'Reilly married Mary Esther "Esther" Rettiger in 1930. Rose and James had one other son, James, born in Kansas born in 1886 in Kansas. Rose died at her home in Strong City and it was in the newspaper on Nov 20 1929. Her son Henry who is also called "Harry" was the Chase County Attorney. The other son, James resided in Los Angeles at the time of Rose's death.

On the birth record for Henry Charles on Mar 06 1889 it list his father as James O'Reilly and mother Rose O'Neil.
