Medley, Jabez

Jabez Medley living in 1850 at Greenville Twp, Bureau, Illinois was married living with Eleanor Medley age 32 born in Ohio. The family consisted of Phebe E age 11 born, Ohio, Ann Hester age 9 born in Ohio and Lucretia, Age 7 born in Illinois, Andrew J age 5 born in Illinois, Reuben W age 3, born in Illinois, and Fatama age 6/12 born in Illinois.

Jabez Medley lived a very short time in Chase County at Bazaar. His wife had died and he left shortly for Mystic, Sullivan, Missouri where other family must have resided. On the 1860 census we find Hester (Ann), Lucinda, A J Or Andrew J, Rheuben or Rueben W, Fatama, John, Eliza, and James.

The early Sullivan, Missouri marriage records shows that Jabez married Tennessee Fansher on Jul 14 1861. It lists her name as Fransher but the family name is Fansher. Also in this records lists Jabez's son, Andrew J to Mary Pascle Taylor on Oct 14 1866. The 1870 Union Twp, Sullivan Co, Missouri census show Jabez Medley with Tennessee, his wife and Eliza and James F residing in the home. His son Andrew J wife Mary Rosetta nee (Taylor) and daughter Eleanor is residing next door.

The 1880 Union Twp, Sullivan Co, Missouri census shows Jabez and Tennessee still living. However, burial records shows that Tennessee expired on Jan 23 1885. Jabez again married (the marriage records shows Jules) but he married again, Martha Ready on Aug 15 1886. Jabez and Martha are listed on the 1900 Union Twp, Sullivan Co census.

The cemetery records at Mystic, Sullivan, Missouri records Andrew 1844 to 1916; Mary his wife, 1848 - 1924; Jabez was born May 06 1816 and died Nov 19 1909; Martha his third wife was born Dec 30 1836 and died Mar 26 1905, Tennessee his second wife died Jan 23 1885 age 61 years, 1 month, 8 days.
