Myers, Alfred
When Alfred Myers married Mrs. Emmeline Perkins in Platte County, Mo., and came to
Chase County to cultivate the Mercer springs farm of his wife and her son, J F Perkins, he was a widower with four children, namely, Sarah, or Sallie as she was called, who became the wife of Frank Maybell, John C. Myers, who married Melinda Fagg and lives in Locust Grove,Okla.; Tolbert, who lives in Oklahoma; and Susan -- Mrs. James Smith
Mr. Myers farmed the Mercer Springs farm until 1889, when he moved away from the state. He died in 1901.
The children of Mr and Mrs. Alfred Myers are Hiram, Ella, Marion, Louis, Celia, Iva, Willis and the twins, Aggie and Albert and Alberta.
Mrs. Emmelina Harrington Perkins Myers was born in 1847 and passed to her rest September 27, 1929. Her body is interred in the cemetery at Matfield Green.
Mrs. Myers had a brother, David A. Harrington, who lived
in Matfield for years. He was born in 1845. He died October 5, 1891, the result of inhaling gas in a well he was digging at Dist. No 3 schoolhouse. Note: Mr. Alfred Myers had several brothers who lived in or around Matfield for short periods. They were James, Jilson and Paul Myers. There was
also a sister, Frances, who became Mrs. Louis Seals.
