THEATERS
There have been three Theaters in Chase
County. The Air Dome Theater was located on the
East side of Broadway just south of where Peach
Phillips 66 Station is now located in Cottonwood
Falls.
The Lyric Theater on the west side of Broadway was opened in 1933 and owned and operated
by Earl Harmon, He sold it to Ed May in 1946.
Dudley Doolittle Jr, bought it in 1950 and operated
it until he closed the business in 1961. Bill Meager bought the Lyric Theater building in 1970. It
is a vacant building.
The Uptown Theater is located in the City
Auditorium in Strong City. Charles Lanscaster owned the Theater until 1946 when he sold the business to Ed May. Dudley Doolittle Jr. bought the
Theater from Mr. May in 1950. Lyle McKee and Bill
Yeager purchased the Theater in 1966 from Mr.
Doolittle. Bill Yeager purchased Lyle's interest
and has movies each Saturday and Sunday nights. (1972)
