Alexander, Glen Arthur
Glen Arthur Alexander, 83, died July 27, 2004, in Marion.
Glen, the son of Arthur and Jesse Blair Alexander, was born July 22, 1921, in McPherson County.
He attended school in rural North Diamond in a one room school several miles from the family farm and graduated from high school from Zepher Hills, Fla., in 1940.
He married Marjorie D. Green on Nov. 20, 1042 in Providence, R.I., just weeks before leaving to go overseas to serve in the Navy during World War II. After his service in
the Navy, Mr. Alexander worked at the McPherson Flour Mill for a short time before beginning a 60-year career in oil field pumping and producing.
Mr. Alexander was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. He was also a life member of the VFW, in which he served as post commander.
He is survived by four sons, Gary of Hopkinsville, Ky., Bryan of Herington, Norman of Newton and Lance of Cedar Point; one brother, Raymond of Moundridge; six grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
