Amerine, Naomi Ethel McCurry The graveside service for Naomi Ethel Amerine, 84, of Strong City will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Strong City Cemetery. The Rev Don and the Rev. Ellie Foster will conduct the service. Eastern Star rites will be conducted by Falls Chapter 25 of Cottonwood Falls.
Mrs Amerine was secretary at Chase County High School before she retired in 1976. She was employed several years at the former Billing Pharmacy in Cottonwood Falls and earlier, taught school at Milo.
Naomi Ethel McCurry, the daughter of Thomas Edison and Carrie Wilson McCurry, was born April 2 1914, at Barnard. She graduated from Barnard High School and from Kansas State Teachers College with a teaching certificate.
She married Hillman Amerine on Aug 18 1935. He died in 1970.
Mrs Amerine was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church. She was a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of Falls Chapter 25, Order of the Eastern Star of Cottonwood Falls.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Daggett of Leavenworth and Judi Deering of Caney; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Blaine McCurry, a sister Buena McCurry, and a grandson died earlier.
