Arnold, Anna Dove
Mrs Anna Dove Arnold, wife of Joseph Arnold, died at the family residence at Strong City, Saturday, Sept 25 1897 at 4:25 am, aged 74 years, 1 month, and 1 day. The funeral services were conducted at the Congregational Church, Strong City at 11:00 am on Sunday, Sept 26. Mrs W C Hagans officiating. The body was buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery west of this city, and was followed to its last resting place by a large number of sympathizing friends and neighbors.
Anna Dove was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Aug 24, 1823; was married to Joseph Arnold, Feb 5 1846. To them was born 10 children, six sons and four daughters, seven of whom are living, namely: Amanda Griffith of Santa Rosa, Calif; Benjamin S and Clinton D of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; Frank L, Saffordville, Kansas; William Hand Guy C of Strong City; Octavia F Scheer, Precept, Nebraska; all of whom were present except Amanda (the oldest). Her five sons were at her bedside when she passed away. The two daughters having been dispatched for, but had not arrived.
Mother Arnold had been an invalid for the past eight years, but had only been confined to her bed a few days in her final sickness, when her spirit took its flight. She was reared in the Baptist faith. A good mother, loving wife, kind neighbor and a true friend has fallen; the ranks have been broken, but the cord of love has not been severed, and another jewel has been dropped into memorys casket.
