Austin, Charles H.

Charles H. Austin, 85, of San Diego, Calif., died Feb. 01, 2002. Mr. Austin was born March 31, 1916 at Cottonwood Falls to Fred J and Nora Ward Austin. He was a graduate of Chase County Community High School. He served in the Army during World War II and then worked for the California First Bank of San Diego for 35 hears. He was a member of San Diego Masonic Lodge #35 and Mission Beach Pyramid #56.

Survivors include his wife, Joannamae Gurney Austin; two sons, Rich Austin of Santee, Calif., and Mike Austin of Ramona, Calif.; one sister Aline Schmitt of Great Bend; one brother, Fred J. Austin Jr. of Topeka; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorene Scott. Funeral services were held on Feb. 6 at the Greenwood Salli Lynn Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the W W II Veterans Fund, P O Box 96074 Attn: GR048, Washington D C 20090-6074.
