Barbe, William A. William A. Barbe. 43 of Greenwich, Conn., died Oct 27, 2001. Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at Christ Church in Greenwich. A reception will be held at the Tomes-Higgins House on the church grounds prior to the service at 1 p.m.
William A Barbe was a native of Kansas City, Mo. He was the son of the late Robert William and Elizabeth Miller Barbe.
Mr. Barbe was a partner of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, In., a private equity firm in New York City. Prior to joining C
D&R, he worked at Phillips Petroleum, Mellon Bank, Drexel Burnham Lambert, and Smith Barney.
He was a graduate of Kansas State University and Columbia University School of Business. He served on the Advisory Board of the KSU Foundation, and on the Brain Tumor Advisory Board of Duke University and the Board of Directors of WESCO Distribution, Inc., Kinko's Inc. and Schulte GmbH & Co. KG.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pivirotto Barbe; three sons, Robert "Beau", Chase and Reed; and four siblings, Robert M. Barbe, Rebecca B. Alderson, Nile Carrothers and Richard Carrothers. Memorials are suggested to the Greenwich Hospital Home Care Hospice Program or the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
