Becker, Lew OBITUARY
Lew Becker was born on Sept. 9th, 1845, in Brooklyn, New York, and died June 19th, 1924, at the age of 78 years, 9 months, 10 days.
At an early age he went to Chicago where he soon entered the employ of the Union Stock Yards, he was sales man in the yards until the spring of 1880, when he with his parents came to Chase county and located on a section of land on the head of Rock Creek, where he took great interest in improving and building up a good home and fine farm. There were many hardships to contend with as usual in a new country, but he was always cheerful
and contented.
He was a devoted
son to his parents in their old age, both being invalids for a number of years, He was a good, kind brother, always ready to help in case of need.
He is survived by one brother, Wm. H. Becker; two sisters, Anna M. Becker Mary L Schwiling; also a niece and adopted daughter, Emily M. Selves, all of this place.
The funeral services were held at the home Saturday, June 21st, at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Porter preached the sermon after, which interment was made in the Prairie Grove cemetery.
