Mrs. Bichet Dead.
Sophie Bichet was born in France, November 19, 1816, and died in Florence, Kansas, July 11, 1905, aged 88 years, 7 months and 22 days.
In the year 1838 she was married to Francis Bichet, and in 1858 they came to the United States and settled in the Cottonwood valley near Cedar Point where amid the privations of anew and wild country, they set about to make for themselves a home and it is needless to say here how well they succeeded.
Of the two children born to them, one died in infancy, the other, Mr. A. Bichet, is a well known citizen of our city.
For more than twenty years since the death of her husband, Mrs. Bichet has lived with her son. Before she was stricken with her last sickness, she expressed a wish that she be laid to rest beside her husband.
Her life has been one of hard toil and even to the last, when it was no longer necessary for her to work, .she busied herself with the household duties. She has outlived all her friends and neighbors by several years so that her last days were lonely save for the home
folks.
She has seen Kansas grow from a wilderness territory to a populous state. She has seen the buffalo and the Indian of the prairie give place to prosperous farms, comfortable homes sad flourishing villages and cities.
Mrs. Bichet was received into the church when a girl, and throughout her long life was ever faithful to her early profession. Of her it may be truly said, "Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age like as a shock of corn comest in his season."
The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Anderson at the house, Wednesday, at eleven o'clock after which the remains were laid to rest in the Florence cemetery.
