Blackmore, Alzena Rose King

Alzena R. Blackmore, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 24. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls with her son, Pastor Bill Blackmore, officiating. The family requests cool and casual dress. Interment will follow in Matfield Green Cemetery, Matfield Green.

Alzena Rose King was born on July 10, 1918, in Matfield Green to Joseph and Mattie Ethel Kimball King. She married Frank J. Blackmore on May 19, 1946, in Yates Center. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1984.

Mrs. Blackmore was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, in Sublette and attended the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia receiving her teaching certificate. She taught at Rock Creek, Hymer and Matfield Green Schools. She also was a cook at the Sublette Grade School.

She is survived by three sons, James Doyle Blackmore of Strong City, Robert Lynn Blackmore of El Dorado and Billy Joe Blackmore of Wilsey; a daughter, Donna Algene Clutter of Strong City; a sister, Twila Conley of Emporia, nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren The family will greet friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until service time Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the Chase County Emergency Medical Services in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845
