Paul H. Blackmore, 93, Sublette, died Saturday morning, March 29, 2008, at Satanta District Hospital,
The son of William Monfort and Mary Emily Golden Blackmore, he was born July 17, 1914, at Matfield Green.
He married Hazel Lucille Raner Nov. 24, 1946, at Sublette.
He was a retired meat cutter for Ideal Grocery in Sublette and was a Haskell County Sheriff for 26 years. He was a member of the Christian Church, Sublette American Legion Post 205 and lifetime member of Masonic Lodge both in Sublette and Garden City.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; four daughters, Lawanda Blankenship and Mary Watson, both of Sublett, Pauline Nelson, Pinedale, Wyo., and Bonnie Starke, Dodge City; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Frank, Walker, Mason and Jack Blackmore, one sister as an infant, Helen Virginia Blackmore.
Funeral services were held on Thesday, April 1, at the Christian Church, Sublette, with Minister David Erwin presiding. Military graveside services were conducted by the Sublette American Legion Post No. 205, with burial in the Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
