Blankenship, Dorotha Dorotha Blankenship, 73,
died Aug. 28, 2002, at Chase
County Health and
Rehabilitation Center,
Cottonwood Falls.
A
Celebration of Her Life was
Aug. 31, 2002, at the Brown-
Bennett-Alexander Funeral
Home in Cottonwood Falls.
Pastors Roland Craig and
Dwight Craig officiated. A pri-
vate inurnment is to be held at
a later date.
Dorotha Lea Beedle, the
daughter of Ray and Grace
Norton Beedle, was born Sept.
28, 1928, at Bazaar. She mar-
ried Jerry Jay Blankenship on
June 20, 1949, at Bazaar. He
died in 1970.
She was a rancher and
member of the American
Quarter Horse Association and
the Kansas Quarter Horse
Association. She was one of the
first Emergency Medical
Technicians in Chase County
and went with them on ambu-
lance runs. She was a Kansas
charter member of the Girls
Professional Rodeo
Association, worked with the
Dodge City Rodeo Days
Association and volunteered
with the Flint Hills Rodeo
Association. She was, also, a
member of Falls Chapter #25
of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by one
daughter, Leigh Ann Crofoot of
rural Matfield Green; two
sons, Jay Blankenship of
Hutchinson and Flint
Blankenship of Topeka; and
four grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her par-
ents and four sisters, Beverly
Grace Beedle, Virginia Norton
Beedle, Helen Evens and Betty
Koger.
Memorials are suggested to
Chase County Emergency
Medical Service and may be
sent in care of the funeral
home at 201 Cherry,
Cottonwood Falls.
