Blount, Joyce A Burton

Joyce A. Blount, 64, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls.

The daughter of Albert and Nina Bell Blackburn Burton, Joyce Ann was born Nov. 24, 1943, at La Mesa Calif. She and Robert S. Blount were married June 7, 1961, at Cottonwood Falls. He died Sept. 1, 1995.

She worked, as a secretary and/or treasurer for, for U.S.D. #284 for over 30 years. She retired in 2003. She was a member of the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church, Rainbow Garden Club, The Cottonwood Falls Country Club and a member, and former Treasurer, of the Chase County Historical Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Line of Bazaar and Kim Mayo of Guilford, Mo.; a twin sister, Carol Hawkins of Aurora, Colo.; and four grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls with Chaplain Hal Lewis, chaplain of Newman Regional Health and Hand in Hand Hospice officiating. Interment followed in Bazaar Cemetery, Bazaar.
