Bumgardner, Dean S Former Resident Is Taken in Death
Dean S. Baumgardner, 71, of Wichita, who was a former resident of Cottonwood Falls and Eureka, died Friday, June 16, 1978, in the Hill Haven Nursing Home, Wichita. He was a retired shop foreman for Phillips Pipeline Company.
Mr. Bumgardner was born Nov. 16, 1906, in Gridley, the son of George L. and Eliza Dean Bumgardner. He moved to Cottonwood Falls at an early age and attended grade and high school here. He had lived in Eureka for many years before moving to Wichita several years ago. On May 15, 1922, he was married to Opal A. Cope, who died July 28, 1971. He married Pearl Olson Criswell on Sept. 5, 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl; one son, Dale, Matador, Texas; four daughters, Mrs Jack (Alvern) Dyer, Conroe, Texas; Mrs Floyd (June)
Cheever, Wichita; Mrs. Donald (Virginia) Walker, Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Gerald (Nadean) Black, Bloomington, Calif., one stepson, Charles Criswell, Auburn, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jerry Selchert, Wichita; 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one sister, Pearl Bell; Bell Gardens, Calif.
FuneraI services were held at 10 a .m. Monday, June 19, in the Campbell Funeral Home, Eureka. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery there.
