Theodore R, Ted" Bumgardner was found dead in his trailer Tuesday morning, the victim of accidental asphyxiation. The 57 year old Cottonwood Falls bachelor lived alone. He had a small dog which also perished in the trailer.
Relatives became apprehensive after Mr. Bumgardner had not been down town as was his daily custom. The tragedy was discovered shortly after 9 oclock by Ed Boles, local businessman, who had been asked to check on him. Mr. Boles immediately notified authorities. Mr. Bumgardner's body was in his bed and the dog was lying on the floor near-by, Sheriff Francis Towle reported.
He said two small gas stoves were burning and it was very warm inside the trailer. It is believed Mr. Bumgardners death resulted from carbon monoxide fumes and occurred sometime after he retired Saturday night. He was last seen going towards his home late Saturday afternoon.
Around the trailer, only small tracks of children were visible in the snow that fell Sunday night. There was no evidence of foul play.
Graveside services were held this Wednesday afternoon at Prairie Grove Cemetery where burial made. The Rev JohnThornberry of the Methodist church was in charge. Arrangements were in the charge of the Croy Funeral Home.
