Carpenter, Lewis H

Lewis H Carpenter, early Chase County Settler, died at his home in Boardman, Oregon, last Friday, Oct, 10th, following a brief illness. The deceased had arranged to start to, Chase county this week to visit his old home and relatives.

Mr. Carpenter came to Karma 56 years ago and for nearly fifty years made his home near Cedar Point in the west part of this county. Seven years ago he moved to Oregon which had since been his home.

He leaves three sons: Lewis and Ray of Cedar Point; Glen of Bordman, Oregon. He is survived by three brothers: Levi Carpenter of Houston, Texas, Gerome and Gus Carpenter of Cedar Point, and Burns respectively. The remains were brought here for the funeral and interment.

The body was accompanied from Oregon by Delbert Carpenter, a grandson of the deceased and the son of Lew Carpenter of Cedar Point. The body arrived Tuesday and the funeral was held at Cedar Point, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the M. E. pastor of the Florence Church preaching the sermon. Interment was in- the Ceder Point cemetery. Mr. Carpenter's death was due to leakage of the heart.
