Casidy, Hulda Carr
Mrs. Hulda Casidy, who died at her home in Cedar Point early last Friday morning, was one of Chase County's early settlers who was widely known and beloved in her home community.
Mrs. Casidy had been ill for about three weeks. Her death, however, which came about 4 o'clock Friday morning, was sudden.
The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church in Cedar Point at 4:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. E.B. Wells, a retired Presbyterian pastor of Emporia, preaching the sermon. Interment was in the Cedar Point Cemetery.
Mrs. Casidy's maiden name was Miss. Hulda Carr. She was born in Ohio, May 10th, 1847. In the year 1876, she was married to Mr. Casidy and the following year, 1877, they moved to this county, locating near Cedar Point. This remained their home.
Mr. Casidy's death occurred in
1903, and of a family of six children only two are living now. They are Charles and O.C. Casidy of Wichita.
With but two exceptions, Mrs. Casidy was the oldest resident living in Cedar Point. For exactly fifty years she had lived there.
She was a woman noted for her benevolence and true Christian life, and it is with deep regret that the Cedar Point community Sunday afternoon paid the last tribute of love and respect to 'Grandma' Casidy as she was laid to rest in the cemetery besides the graves of her husband and
children.
