Chandler, Roswell Henry Death of R H. Chandler.
Roswell Henry Chandler was born in Chister, Vermont, September 17, 1836, and died at his home in Bazaar, Kansas, March 18, 1915, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 1 day.
He was
united in marriage to Macy Elizabeth Leland, January 22 1862. To this union six children were
born, Edwin A., Charles H., Eugene E.,
Levi L., Jessie F., and Mamie E., five of whom still remain, and all of whom, ,but Eugene E., who lives in northern Canada, are present today.
From his birth till November 1876 He resided on the old homestead in Vermont, where his entire family was born. In the fall of 1876 be purchased and moved to a farm near Lancaster, New Hampshire, where the family resided for about two and one half years.
In the spring of 1879, seeing the increasing needs of his growing family be caught the spirit of emigration, and disposing of the New Hampshire home, came west and purchased and settled upon a farm near Bazaar, Kansas, where he resided till 1901, when he built the house, in which he completed his days.
He was preceded to the better land by his wife who passed away in this home, December 28th, 1907. He always took an active interest in all matters pertaining to the welfare of his neighborhood, county and state. He served his home community for years as justice of the peace and was twice elected to the legislature.
His was a life full of years, neighborly helpfulness and unostentatious usefulness and he came to his end quietly, peacefully and without suffering. His was a full realization of a just reward for a useful life.
The funeral services were held at the Chandler home Saturday, the 20th at 11 o'clock a. m. conducted by Dr. Fish of Topeka. The music was furnished by the male quartette of Cottonwood Falls consisting of W. B. Penny, Prof. Geo. , Hower, Walter Austin and James Bell. The floral offerings were beautiful, red and white carnations, pink and sunburst roses, calla lilys, and ferns. Interment was made in-the Bazaar cemetery.

R. H. Chandler Dead.
R H Chandler died at his home in Bazaar last Thursday, March l8, from hemorrhage of the brain.
Mr. Chandler was an early settler of this County, coming from New Hampshire to Kansas in 1879 and settling on a farm near Bazaar, where he resided until about nine years ago, when he moved to the town.
Mr Chandler served as a Republican member of the Kansas Legislature from 1893 to 1895. He was a past grand master of the Masonic lodge.
The deceased is survived by three sons and two daughters to mourn his death, two of whom Levi
Chandlker and Miss Mamie Chandler. live at Bazaar.
Funeral Services were held Saturday afternoon and burial was made in the Bazaar cemetery.
