Childs, Arthur

Arthur Childs Killed By Horse

Arthur, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Childs, who live just west of the Neva tower, on Diamond Creek, met with a horrible accident last Monday evening about six o'clock, which resulted in death, the little fellow dying at midnight from injuries received.

Arthur and his little sister had gone to the barn to feed some little kittens, which were making their home in one of the mangers in the barn. The horses had just been put in the barn and were eating their feed. Arthur had climbed into the manger and it is thought he slipped and fell beneath the feet of one of the horses, which tramped him. His skull was crushed and face and body badly mutilated. No one saw the accident and his little sister found him and called for help.

He was taken to the house and medical aid summoned, but the brave fight made by the youngster and three physicians was of no avail, and little Arthur passed away about midnight.

Mr. and Mrs. Childs are the parents of ten children and Arthur the baby, is the first to answer the final call. The family is almost heart broken over the horrible accident.

Funeral services were held at the family home Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Gilmore of the Presbyterian church of this city and burial was made in the Prairie Grove cemetery.
