Clark, Harold M
Harold M Clark, 89, died Nov 19, 2006. at New Braunfels, Texas. Harold, the son of Harry and Mary Clark, was born May 8, 1917, at Florence. He graduated from Strong City High School in
1936.
Mr Clark graduated from Emporia State University with a teaching degree in 1941. He coached in Lacross.
He married Margaret Whipkey from Peabody on May 17, 1942. She was an elementary teacher in Cottonwood Falls.
Harold enlisted in the U S Navy and saw overseas duty in the Pacific, Atlantic and Caribbean,
After his discharge he returned to Emporia, where he worked for the Veteran's Administration, During these post-war years, he earned his Masters Degree in 1950 from ESU in school administration. He then began a 32 year career as a school administrator retiring in 1982.
He was a 50 year Mason, and a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis, Moose and the New Braunfels Lions Club, VFW and Elks.
He is survived by his wife:, a son Tom Clark of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter a son-in-law; and
sister-in-law, Betty Clark of Strong City
He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Peggy Ann Finzen. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov 29, at the Presbyterian Church in New Braunfels, Texas. The Rev Kenneth Peters officiated to honor Mr and Mrs Clark's lifelong commitment to Education, the fsmily is establishing the Harold M. and Margaret Whipkey Clark academic scholarship at Emporia State University.
