Clark, Peggy A

Peggy A. Clark, 57, died at her home in Georgetown on May 14, 2004. Peggy, the daughter of Harold and Margaret Clark, formerly of Concordia. She was the niece of the late Kenneth Clark and Lloyd Clark of Strong City.

Ms. Clark was born in Emporia and received her B.S. degree in communications from Kansas State University in 1968. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1973, Ms. Clark received a masters degree in fine arts from the University of Kansas. Her public service included employment by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, The Small Business Administration and as a Special Assistant to President Clinton in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel from 1993 until 1998. She also owned her own business, Clark Publishing, which published Capital Corner Digest from 1984 to 1993. Most recently, she was employed by Sallie Mae as a Director of Government and Industry Relations from 1998 until her death.

Ms. Clark served on the Board of the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts and on the Board of the American Council of Young Political Leaders. In the latter capacity she led a delegation of U.S. young political leaders to Australia in 2001 and hosted several foreign delegations of young polictical leaders visiting the U.S. at her home.

She is survived by her spouse, Bruce A. Finzen; parents, Harold and Margaret Clark of New Braunfels, Texas; a brother, Thomas Clark of Austin, Texas; and many other family members.

A memorial service was held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 23. Memorials may be made in Peggy A.
