FUNERAL OF SAMUEL M. CLAY
The funeral services for Samuel M. Clay, former, well known Strong City resident, whose death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Lore, in Lankershim, California, on last Friday, Sept. 5th, was held in Emporia, Wednesday.
The remains arrived from California, Wednesday morning, accompanied by Clarence S. Clay, of Emporia, son of the deceased. The funeral services took place in St. Mark's Lutheran Church 2:30 o�clock the same afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. E Clemens, the pastor. Interment was made in Maplewood cemetery following the service.
Seven children survive Mr. Clay. They are: Clarence S. and Roy L. Clay of Emporia; Mrs. Carl Mitchell of Olpe; Mrs. Ralph Frost of Esbon; Mrs. Will F. Evans of Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Elmer Lore of Lankershim, Calif.; and Fleming W. Clay, who is in the United States army and stationed in the Philippine Islands.
He is survived also by four sisters, Mrs. T. J. Fleming, Emporia; Mrs. Martha Kurtz, Womelsdorf, Pa.; Mrs. George George and Mrs. Edward Diller, Anaheim, Calif.; and by three brothers, Henry M. Clay and John W. Clay of Anaheim, Calif., and Adam M. Clay of Allentown, Pa. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.
