EDWARD J. COOK IS DEAD
Edward J. Cook, who was for a short time county engineer of this county before the family moved from this city to Emporia about ten years ago, died at his home at 172. East Witman Court In Emporia last Thursday morning. Mr. Cook had been ill for over six months during which time he had gradually grown weaker.
The funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:00 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. Father Osmond conducted the services after which interment was made in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Edward J. Cook was born June 25, 1883, at Roanoke, Indiana. He received his education in his native state where he became an engineer. He was married to Miss Grace Merker, May 11th., 1912, at Chicago. From Chicago the Cooks came to this city in 1917, living here until 1920. In Lyon county Mr. Cook served on the county engineering force under W. S. Ruggles from 1920 to 1926, then became assistant to County Engineer Dale Henry in 1926.
Mr. Cook is survived by his widow Mrs. Grace Cook, and one son, Edward Junior, who is 16. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cook, who lives at Crown Point, Indiana, and other relatives in his native state of Indiana.

Edward J. Cook Was Engineer of
Chase County Before Going to Emporia.
Edward J Cook, assistant Lyon county engineer and former Chase county engineer, died Thursday morning at 8'oclock at his home, 1727 East Wilman Court. Mr. Cook had been sick for the past six months.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic church. Services will be conducted by Rev. Father Osmond. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart cemetery. Officers will be closed during the funeral.
Mr. Cook served on the Lyon county engineering force under W. S. Ruggles from 1920 until 1926. When Dale Henry became county engineer in 1926, he appointed Mr. Cook his assistant. Before coming to Emporia Mr. Cook was county engineer in Chase County and did much pioneer road work there. After he came to Emporia, Mr. Cook did much private surveying, such as plotting ....
Edward J Copok was born June 25, 1883 at Roanoke, Ind. He attended Gractua School of Engineering at Rensselaer, Ind. He was married to Grace Merker, May 11 1912, at Chicago, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs Cook came to Kansas and made their home in Cottonwood Falls in 1917, moving to Emporia in 1920. Mr Cook was president of the Emporia Engineer club and a member of the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his widow, one son, Edward, Jr., 16; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cook, of Crown Point, Ind.; two sisters, Margaret and Mary Cook, of Crown Point, two brothers, William of Crown Point, and Lawrence, of Hammond, Ind.
