Obituary of Mrs. Cooper
Lizzy Mackey was born in Pittsburg, Penn., Nov. 03 1867 and died Friday, January 3rd., at the family home near Matfield Green. Of Scotch descent she could look back to an ancestry of which many Americans are justly proud.
She, with her parents, came to Kansas in 1882 settling in the southwestern part of Chase county on Shaw creek.
She was married to Mr. Cooper in 1894 and remained in Lyon county five years, moving to Chase county in 1899.
Mr. and Mrs. Cooper are well known in the region of Homestead where they lived a number of years; also in Thurman vicinity where during the last two years they have made many friends.
Mrs. Cooper leaves besides her husband nine children, three brothers, William, Joe and Alexander Mackey and one sister, Mrs. Mary Rumford. Not only do her relatives feel the loss of a faithful mother, wife and sister, but her friends and neighbors where she has spent her pilgrimage mourn this loss of a loved f riend and neighbor.
