Drinkwater, Wilma Evelyn Wilma Evelyn Drinkwater, 86, of Sedalia, Mo., died Aug. 19, 2002, at her home. She was born June 18, 1916, at Clements, daughter of Joel and Blanche Dickson Spiller.
On Jan. 17, 1936, in Junction City, she married Orlo Henry Drinkwater, who died Dec. 5, 1987. Mrs. Drinkwater grew up on Chase County. She moved to Frankfort in 1933, and graduated from Frankfort High School. She and her husband owned and operated Drinkwater's Hy-Klas Grocery Store in Centralia for 26 years before retiring and moving to Sedalia in 1983. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. She was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Wiltz, Sedalia; two sons, Myron Drinkwater, Lake Forest, Calif., and Joe Drinkwater, Claremont, Fla.; two brothers Joel Spiller and Wayne Spiller, both of Frankfort; two sisters Marjorie Olson, Abilene, and Ferne Hines, Huntington Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlo; an infant brother Virgil; and a grandson, Bradley.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Sedalia with Rev. Dr. Nancy Tanner Thies officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Elmdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 419 West 4th Street Sedalia, Mo 65301 or to Bothwell Hospice, 601 East 14th Street, Sedalia, Mo 65301.
