Drummond, Andrew Howard Andrew Howard Drummond, 76, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in White River Junction, Vt.
Andrew, the son of Andrew James
and Carrie Wood Drummond, was
born June 27,
1929, on the family farm in Elmdale. He graduated from Cottonwood Falls High School.
After graduating from Grinnell College, he served in the Army from 1951 to
1954. When he returned home he got his master's degree in fine arts from Columbia University.
He did summer stock and taught at Horace Mann School; Fairleigh Dickinson University; and Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.
In 1969, he received a doctorate from New York University and married Maria Spater.
In 1990, after retiring from teaching, he moved with his family to White River Junction, Vt.
He died of olivopontocerebellar atrophy, a rare disease that affects the cerebellum.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Hannah and Henry; a sister Jean Ward of Larned; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A gathering for family and friends will be planned at a later date.
