Embry, Elizabeth J Mauderly

Elizabeth "Betty" J. Mauderly Embry Elizabeth "Betty" Embry, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Elizabeth Jean Mauderly, the daughter of Joseph William and Eva Pauline Park Mauderly, was born Jan. 27. 1926, in rural Chase County.

She graduated from Clements High School in 1944 and from the Newman Hospital-School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Newman Hospital and Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia and Symmes Hospital in Arlington, Mass.

She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Flint Hills Association, the American Heart Association, the All A. Council on Cardiovascular Nursing, American Association of Critical Care Nursing and the American Diabetes Association. She sang with the `Sweet Adalines" in Emporia. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Barnes of Juneau, Alaska a son, Robert Embry of Fresno, Calif.; and two grand-daughters. She was preceded in death by a daughter. Katherine Jean/Zemobia Embry-Nimmer; two brothers, J. Park Mauderly and Col. Allen Mauderly; and a sister, Beulah Irwin.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, with The Rev Pat Ireland officiating. Burial followed in Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls. Memorial contributions to the Newman School of Nursing or Emporia Presbyterian Manor may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845
