Evans, L. Ray

L. Ray Evans, 83, of Oroville, Calif., formally of Santa Clara, Calif., died Sept. 21, 2003.

He grew up in Clements, but was originally from Seneca, Mo. He graduated from Clements High School in 1938. He was in the United States Coast Guard from May 1943 to September 1950 and attended the reunion held in Atlanta, Ga. He received the Gold Veterans badge from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 45 years of exempIary service.

He is survived by six children: Jackie, Gwen, Bob, Joyce, Deanna and Ken; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The military funeral mass was held at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, Calif., Sept. 27, 2003.
