Evans, Paul Willhite

Paul Evans, 85, of Strong City died March 18, 2002, at Newman Regional Health. Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Elmdale Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hastings will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cottonwood Falls. Paul Evans, 85, of Strong City died March 18, 2002, at Newman Regional Health. Paul Willhite Evans, the son of Delma P and Sabra Willhite Evans, was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Cottonwood Falls. He married Leola Childs on Sept.23, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo. He owned and operated a truck line and delivered Sinclair gasoline. He served in the U S Navy during WWII. He was a farmer/stockman for ten years in Lyon County before he and Leola moved to a farm on Peyton Creek in Chase County in 1960. He was a member of the Elmdale Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a brother, Don J Evans of Cottonwood Falls; a sister, Elma Steward of North Little Rock, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Geraldine McCallum. The family will greet friends on Thursday, 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Friends may call at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8: p.m. and at the church Friday, from 11: a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions to the Elmdale Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
