Freeborn, Ellis W Ellis W. Freeborn, 95, of Florence, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
Ellis Freeborn, better known as Jack, was born Aug. 29, 1910, to William Henry and Nellie Ellen LeDuc Freeborn at Marion.
He attended only the lower grades of school as he was needed to work on the farm. During his lifetime he farmed and worked in the oilfields, and on the roads using his team of horses to do heavy work.
He moved to his present
farm in the 1930s where he continued to live until about a year ago.
He married Fronie Scobee from the Clements community on June 21, 1935. She died July 28, 2001.
He is survived by one son, Jackie Dean of Florence; two daughters, Ruth Hodges, Ponca City, Okla. and Mary Lee Wineinger, Windsor, Colo.; nine granchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Ice and Mazie McKnight.
The funeral service is Thursday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Christian Church of Florence. Pastor Larry Timm will officiate. Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6-8 p.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke Living Center, Marion.
