Grandy, A. P.

Whereas, death, the common enemy of mankind, having entered the household of our worthy brother, A. P. Gandy, and laid his cold icy bands upon the wife and mother; removing (this life partner in the joys and sorrows of a lengthened wedded life) from this earth; passing her on to try the realities of an unknown future, and thereby making desolate a once happy and couteuted home. Therefore be it.

Resolved. That as members of Angola lodge, No. 58, I. O. O. F., we hereby tender to our venerable and well beloved brother and his afflicted family are deepest sympathies in this, their irrepairable loss, and recommend them to the Great Grand Master and Father of all, for such aid and comfort as be alone can give.

Resolved. That a copy of these resolutions of condolence be handed to Brother Gaudy under the seal of the Lodge ; that the same be published in our county papers, and spread upon the minutes of the Lodge.

Death of an old Settler

Nancy E. Gandy, wife of A. P. Gaudy, died last Saturday night, between 9 and 10 o'clock, after an illness of nearly six months, at her late residence, in this city. Mrs. Gaudy's maiden name was Williams and she was a sister of Mrs. A. B. Watson, of this city, and Dr. G. W. Williams, who left here for California some years ago. She was horn in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, May 24, 1831, and moved with her family, in 1842, to Iowa, where she was married to A. P. Gandy, Dec. 11, 1853, by whom she had ten children, five still living, viz: Flora M., wife of W. H. Holsinger; Chester F., Florence J., Mary E. and William E. The deceased came to Chase county, Kans., in 1859 and has resided here over since. She became a member of the M. E. church in 1959. The funeral took place from the M. E. church at 11 a. m. Monday, and the body was interred in the Prairie Grove cemetery. The deceased had an extensive acquaintance throughout the county, all of whom mourn her death and mingle their tears with the bereaved family. C. C. WHITSON, GEO. BALCH, HUGH JACKSON
