Gibson, Verda C. Pulley

Verda C. Gibson, 93, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at her home in Elmdale.

Verda Clemens Pulley, the daughter of John and S. Irene Pulley, was born Aug. 14, 1914, at Bolivar, Mo. She grew up in Springfield, Mo., moving to Kansas City as a young adult. She married Virgil Gibson on June 27, 1937, at Kansas City Mo. He survives.

She worked as a waitress at Putchs 210 on Country Club Plaza in Kansas City Mo. She and her husband owned a grocery store in Hope, Kan. from 1948 until 1953, when they moved back to Kansas City and she was a full-time homemaker and mother. They later moved to Elmdale.

She was an elder in Cherokee Christian Church in Prairie Village and a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She is also survived by a daughter, Sherry L. Wells of Elmdale; a brother, James McKneelen of Belton, Mo.; three grand-children; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral services were Monday, March 31, at the Elmdale Methodist Church with Pastor Lori Schwilling of Saffordville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Elmdale Cemetery in rural Elmdale.

Memorial contributions to the Elmdale Methodist Church or to the Elmdale Cemetery Fund may be sent in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
