Virgil C. Gibson

Virgil C. Gibson, 93, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at his home in Elmdale.

Virgil Clifford Gibson, the son of R. A. and Ruby R. Gibson, was born Aug. 24, 1914, at Butler Mo.

He and Verda C. Pulley were married June 27, 1937, at Kansas City, Mo. She died March 27, 2008.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a grocery store manager with Milgram�s Grocery Store in Kansas City, Mo., retiring in 1977. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Shrine and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. Wells of Elmdale; a brother, Kenneth J. Gibson of Griffin, Ga.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elvin J. Gibson.

Services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Elmdale United Methodist Church with Pastor Lori Schwilling of Saffordville United Methodist Church officiated. A masonic service by Zeredatha Lodge #80 A.F. & A.M. and military honors by a U.S. Navy Honor Guard were held at Elmdale Cemetery in rural Elmdale.
