Giger, Henry
HENRY GIGER DEAD
Henry Giger, for 43 years a
resident of Chase and Lyon counties, is dead. Mr. Giger died at the age of 91 years. He came from Illinois in 1882 locating in the Cottonwood
Valley near Elmdale, where his son, H. M. Giger, now resides. He later purchased land holdings in Lyon county. He made his home in
Emporia until the death of Mrs. Giger, five years ago, when he went to
Kansas City, to live with his daughter, Clara. He is survived by four
children who are Mrs. Clara Meirwether of Kansas City; Mrs. Ulula Tibbetts of Lawrence; L. H. Giger of Nevada; and H. M. Giger of Elmdale.
Mr. Giger's death occurred last Wednesday, Sept. 30th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara
Meirwether, in Kansas City. The remains were brought to Emporia for
interment where the funeral was held last Friday afternoon at the First
Methodist Church, Rev O. L. Howgard, preaching the sermon. Interment was then made in Maplewood
cemetery at Emporia.
