Giger, Nora C.

Nora C. Giger, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls.

The daughter of Harvey and Ocea Brown Counseller, Nora was born Feb. 6, 1926, at Hymer. She married Robert Giger on July 8, 1946, at Strong City. He died July 15, 1976.

They farmed near Elmdale for many years. They moved to Las Cruces, N.M. and returned to Cottonwood Falls where they owned and operated the Western Auto store. She worked at the Chase County Health and Rehabifitation Center until 1998 when her health failed. She was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church and Falls Chapter #25 Order of Eastern Star. She recently received her 50-year pin from this chapter.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice K. Potter of Auburn; and a sister, Aletta Hubble of Hutchinson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herberl Patchin, Harvey Counseller, Jr. and Howard Counseller; and four sisters, Pauline Lawrence, Lillie Milhirons, Ethel Lawrence and Emma Parsons.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. An Order of Eastern Star Service by the Falls Chapter #25 O.E.S. followed. Cremation took place after the services with inurnment at Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls.
