Gleason, Dixie Edwards

Dixie Edwards Gleason, 81, of Cottonwood Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls, where he had lived for several years. The funeral was Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the center. A burial service was Aug. 19 in the Alta Vista Cemetery.

The son of Charles Edward and Mary Harriett Edwards Gleason, Dixie Edwards Gleason was born May 4, 1922, in Geary County. He grew up and attended school in the Garfield area. He spent his early years helping his brothers on the family farm after his father's death. Later, he worked in construction and drove a truck for RECA.

He is survived by two sons, Glen Gleason of Topeka and David Gleason of Herington; a daughter, Mary Duffy of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Susie Swenson of Council Grove; and a brother, Jim Gleason of Alta Vista. Two brothers, Charles Gleason and Raymond Gleason, died earlier.

Contributions to a memorial fund in his name, to be designated later, can be sent in care of Memorial Chapel of the Flint Hills, 137 N. Union St., Council Grove, KS 66846.
