Gonzales, Cyrian Phillip

Cyprian Phillip Gonzales, 64, Elmdale, died of. cancer at-Via Chrisit St, Francis Hospital in Wichita on Friday, Sept. 3, 2004.

Cyprian Phillip Gonzales was born in Newton on Sept. 16, 1939, the son of Soledad Arebelos and Jesus R. Gonzales. He then moved with his family to Strong City when he was three months old, becoming a lifetime resident of Chase County.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and managed several local filling stations before becoming self-employed in the home repair business. He later worked for two Emporia churches and then again became self-employed, operating and managing several large paper routes until he became ill.

He was married to Nancy Lammon for many years; she survives. He is survived by his close loving friend, Jean Hobson Merrill; son, Phillip Lynn Gonazles of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Lea Ann Morrow of Burlington; three step-children, Mark Atchison, Mike Atchison and Karen Atchison; one sister, Elizabeth Ramsey Watts, Strong City; one brother, Stephen Francis Gonzales, Wichita; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parentsand a brother Larry Gonzales .

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at St. Anthony's Church in Strong City with Father Nicholas Voelker officiating. Military graveside service with the Fort Riley Color Guard will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
