Gordon, Edgar E Edgar E. Gordon, 97,
Tallahassee, Fla., died Jan.
18, 2004.
Edgar E. Gordon, the
son of Joseph and Ora
Gordon, was born on Aug.
16, 1906, in Reading. He
graduated from Chase
County Community High
School in 1924. He married
Rubye Blurton, she died
June 28, 1979.
Mr. Gordon was an
artist. He was an Army veteran, where he designed
maps and commercial art
for the military. He attended the American Academy
of Arts, Mizen Academy
and The Chicago Fine Arts
Academy. Among his many
honors, was a national
award for a poster and billboard he created for the
Ford Motor Company. He
has to his credit the illustration of over 40 children's
books and numerous magazine covers such as the
American Magazine. In
1965 he was the designer
for the Official Inaugural
Program for the inauguration of President Lyndon B.
Johnson.
He is survived by a
niece, JoAnn Brammell,
Emporia; and a nephew,
Max Gordon, Strong City.
He was also preceded in
death by his parents; infant
daughter, Joleen Alice; a
brother, Ray K. Gordon;
and one sister, Verna
Gordon.
Cremation has taken
place.
