Grimmett, Leo Emporia native Leo Grimmett, 68, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at his home in Parsons.
The son of George K and Pauline Layman Grimmett, he was born July 15, 1937, in Emporia. He grew up and attended schools in Cedar Point, where he graduated from high school.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He married Geneva Jane Ball on Aug. 11, 1962, in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Mr. Grimmett worked at Silex in Coffeyville before he retired Aug. 1, 1999.
Earlier, he was a heavy-equipment operator in Topeka and, after moving to Parsons, he became a plumber and worked for Owens Plumbing for 18 years.
Mr. Grimmett was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Parsons. He also was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101.
He is also survived by three sons, Brandon Grimmett of the home, Randy Grimmett of Oswego and Allen Grimmett of Parsons; two daughters, Thnya Hamilton of Parsons and Pam Cook of Joplin, Mo.; his mother of
Florence; two brothers, George Grimmett Jr. of Florence and Edwin Grimmett of Shelbyville, Texas; one sister, Anna Lea Brinsoncover of Florence; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral was
Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, in Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home at Parsons. Burial will be in East Bethany Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to a scholarship fund for Brandon Grimmett may be sent to the funeral home, 405 Main, Parsons, KS 67357.
