Grimmett, Mary C LaLouette

Former Emporia resident Mary C. Grimmett of Florence, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at the Golden Living Center of Marion in Marion.

The daughter of Leon and Anna Margaret Carpenter LaLouette, she was born Oct. 28, 1919, at rural Florence. She married George Kelly Grimmett on Feb. 27, 1939, at Eureka. He died in 1995.

She grew up in Florence, graduated from Cedar Point High School in 1937, attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and lived in Emporia until 1944 and then in Florence for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Grimmett was a homemaker. She was a member of Cedar Point Community Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Anna Lea Brenzikofer of Florence; two sons, George K. Grimmett Jr., of Rural Florence and Edwin Lee Grimmett of Shelbyville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Cecilia Jones; and a brother, John Leon LaLouette. The funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence. Memorial contributions to the Cedar Point Community Church may be sent in care of the funeral home, 104 W.
