Heins, Roberta M Byrd

Roberta M. Heins, 65, died Dec. 9, 2002, in her Americus home. Roberta M. Byrd was born Oct. 18, 1937, to George R. "Bob" and Dorothy M. Scharff Byrd.

She married John Heins Aug. 12, 1952, at the Cottonwood Friends Church in Emporia. She was a member of Eastern Star, Saffordville United Methodist Women's Group and Grandview Club. She was a member of the Saffordville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John Robert "Robbie" Heins of Wilsey and Russ. B. Heins of Americus; one daughter, Sherry Edmiston of Council Grove; four grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Lee Byrd of Cimarron; three sisters, Marge Taylor of Udall; Carol Hall of Emporia; Pat Byrd Scott of Emporia; two step-sisters, Jeanette Eidman of Saffordville and Peggy Grundy of Hutchinson; one stepbrother, Church Grundy of Hutchinson; four nephews; eight nieces; three great- nephews; and three great- nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Terry Lynn Heins; and a granddaughter, Kelly Rae Edmiston. Funeral services were held Dec. 13, 2002, at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel. The Rev. Nancy Harris Stotts officiated. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was at Grandview Cemetery, Lyon County Kansas. Memorials may be sent to Hand-In-Hand Hospice in care of Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel, 501 W. 6th Avenue, Emporia, KS 66801
