Herrick, Sarah Elizabeth
MOTHER OF CHARLES AND CARL HERRICK DEAD
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Herrick, mother of Charles and Carl Herrick, of Elmdale, died at the Herrick home in Emporia Monday, March 11th, and the funeral services were held Thursday, at the United Presbyterian Church, Rev. C. F. Hoffman, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery.
Sarah Elizabeth Herrick was born November 7, 1860 in Tolado Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart, both of whom died many years ago. She married J. F. Herrick, April 9, 1881, and came to Kansas the following year. Mr. and Mrs. Herrick were the parents of eight children, seven of whom survive. Mr. Herrick died January 10, 1903.
The following children survive. Charles Herrick and Carl Herrick, Elmdale; and Frank Herrick, Mrs. Evalina Maguire, Mrs. Orpha Young, Mrs. Maude Spillman, Wayne Her-rick, all of whom live in or near Emporia. Seventeen grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. H. M. Donaldson, of Teledo, Iowi; Mrs. James Turner, Greensburg; Mrs. W. E. West, Stilcomer, Wash.; three brothers, W. H. Stewart, Potter, Iowa; Charles Stewart, Toledo, Iowa, and J. W. Stewart, Fulton, Mo., also survive.
