Hodgson, Helen Elizabeth Sidler

Helen Elizabeth Hodgson, 82, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at The Cedars Court, McPherson.

Helen Elizabeth Sidler, the daughter of John Wesley and Amelia KIamm Sidler was born Dec. 2, 1923, at Strong City. She attended the Strong City grade schools and graduated from Strong City High School. She attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia, where she received her Teaching Certificate. She later attended Sterling College and then McPherson College to complete her teaching degree.

She married George Hodgson on Aug. 8, 1945, at Strong City. She was a homemaker, farmer and teacher. She taught in the Little River school system and also Midland School just north of Nickerson. She retired in 1985.

She was a member of the Domestic Arts Club and the Promenaders Square Dance Club of Hutchinson. She was a member of Little River First United Methodist Church, Little River; a member of the Harmony United Methodist Women Circle; and a former member of the Strong City Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of McPherson; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Dillon of Little River; a son, John Charles Hodgson, of Spokane, Wash.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Sidler; and a son, George Allen Hodgson.

The funeral service was at Little River First United Methodist Church, Little River, Monday, June 12, with Reverends Adelia Hooley and Chris Whitace officiating. Burial was in Bean Cemetery, Littler River. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little River First United Methodist Church, Little River, in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 West Euclid St. / McPherson, KS 67460
