Holland, John

John Holland, postmaster at Clements, died at his residence at that place last Friday and was buried at the Crawford cemetery on Sunday.

He was born in 1809 and entered the 3rd Missouri Infantry when over 51 years old, in Co. H and held the rank of sergeant.

The funeral services took place in the Clements school house Sunday morning. Rev. Ward providing the services. The attendance was very large and the body was laid to rest with G. A. R. ceremonies.

The deceased leaves a widow, four children, fifteen grand-children and two great-grandchildren, all of whom were present at the funeral. The deceased was highly respected and the fact that the funeral was one of the largest ever held at Clements, although the weather was most unfavorable, showed the general sorrow over his death. He was a member of the U. S. Grant Post at Elmdale.
