Hopper, Mary Patton Laloge DEATH OF MRS. MARY HOPPER
Mrs. Mary Hopper, who has been ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Carpenter, and family in this city for the past several weeks, died at 7:30 o�clock Sunday evening, May 22nd, following a long illness.
Mrs. Hopper came here from her home at Chanute at which time she was in a very critical condition. Her death was not unexpected and the end for some days was known by her relatives to be near.
Mrs. Hopper�s maiden name was Mary Patton and she was born near Clements in this county on June 1st, 1873, where she grew to young womanhood.
She was married to Claude Laloge on November 6th, 1889, and to this union eight children were born who are Amile, Nicholas, Lee, Guy and Frankie (daughter) Laloge; Mrs. Rosie Carpenter, Mrs. Lucy Searls and Mrs. Bertha Slane.
Mrs. Hopper was later married to J. D. Hopper and for a number of years lived in this city before moving to Chanute, Kansas, which is their present home.
Besides her eight children she is survived by her husband, Mr. Hopper, and her former husband, Mr. Laloge, of this city.
All of the children were present for the funeral which was held Tuesday morning.

Submitted by Margaret E. Haynes. Mary Helen (Patton) Laloge Hopper was the daughter of John Thomas Patton & Susan Frances (Hawkins) Patton and was born June 29th, 1873, in Clements, Kansas.
She married first to Claude Laloge Jr., Nov. 6, 1889, in Cedar Point, Chase Co., KS., they had 8 children (all born in Chase Co.): daughters: Lucy Elizabeth (Mrs. Frank Searles); Rose M. (Mrs. Ernest A. Carpenter); Bertha A. (Mrs. Burdette Slane); Frances Margarette �Frankie� (Mrs. John Carter); and sons, Emile/Amile; Nicholas J.; and Guy Laloge (married Viola May Brown).
Mary Helen (Patton) was married second to Jesse D. Hopper, between 1915 - 1920. Mary Helen�s daughter, Frances (Laloge) Carter, was a cousin & good friend of my mother, we knew her three daughters.
