Jenkins, Ruth Manella Ruth Manella Jenkins, 74,
a homemaker who formerly
lived in Emporia and
Americus, died Jan. 3, 2003, at
David's Place in David City,
Neb. The funeral was Jan. 6,
2002, at the Roberts-Blue-
Barnett Funeral Home and
was conducted by Capt. Mark
Haslett of the Salvation Army.
Burial was in Americus
Cemetery.
She was born May 18, 1928,
in Olpe, the daughter of Elmer
and Maudie May Voorhees
Jones. She married Max A.
Jenkins on June 14, 1946, in
Cottonwood Falls; he died May
1, 1982, in Emporia.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by
three sons, Donald Jenkins of
Kokomo, Ind., Arnold Jenkins
of Sunset, Utah, and Harold
Jenkins of Emporia; three
daughters, Candice Marshall
of Octavia, Neb., Kathleen K.
Lutt of Dighton and Sandra
Sue Jenkins of Colorado
Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A son, Ronald Jenkins; a grandson, Vernon Lee Stanton; and a sister, June Edmiston,
died earlier. The family has established
a memorial in her name with
the Lyon County Historical
Society's genealogy department, which she was instrumental in starting.
